Student Spotlight — Matthew Allen

Student Spotlights allow us to recognize those whose contributions make Holberton Tulsa a welcoming, uplifting community. Hear what Matthew has to share about his experience in our Computer Science & Full Stack Web Development program.

Why did you choose to learn programming/coding?

Matthew: My previous career choice (mechanical engineer) was not a good fit for me, but after a lot of reflection, I realized the my favorite parts of my job and schooling as an engineer was computers.

Tell us about your program and why you’re excited!

Matthew: I am currently in the Full-Stack Web Development program, and I love getting to be creative and building websites from the ground up that are both beautiful and functional.  Web development allows me to express my creative and technical sides.

What is your favorite thing about being a Holberton Student?

Matthew: My favorite thing about Holberton is the community - it is extremely supportive and welcoming, and I have met many of my best friends here.  This is the perfect environment for learning and growing as a person.
