At Holberton Tulsa, one of our favorite things to do is celebrate our students.
That is why we decided to start our Student of the Month award! Nominated by the student’s peers, the Student of the Month is someone who has gone above and beyond in not only their own coursework but in supporting their fellow classmates. This student upholds Holberton’s values and is determined to see those around them succeed.
With our inaugural award, we decided to interview the first recipient of Student of the Month, Chris Vandenhende. Chris is a student in Holberton’s Computer Science and Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality program.
Interview with Holberton Student of the Month, Chris Vandenhende:
Holberton: Why did you choose to learn programming & coding?
Chris: I decided to learn how to program/code because of previous work experience as a marketing consultant and events producer. I wanted to be able to offer my clients SO MANY MORE services. It’s never too late to add a new tool to your belt.
Holberton: Tell us about your program and what you find most exciting about it?
Chris: I am enrolled in the AR/VR specialty at Holberton. This is exciting because so many new and emerging technologies all point towards a future where business and experiences will be lived and executed in a digital space through the use of AR/VR/XR technologies.
Holberton: What is your favorite thing about being a Holberton Student?
Chris: My favorite thing about being a Holberton Student is having access to peers and staff who are passionate about the same things I am, without feeling as if the academic experience is a competition. All of my peers at Holberton are focused on the success of their peers, which I believe has been an integral part of my success at Holberton Tulsa.
