Holberton Tulsa Features Student Work at Demo Day

Tulsa, Okla | April 27, 2022 – Holberton Tulsa, a software engineering school, graduates its third cohort of 21 students this week. Class members will present their capstone projects, the final step in their 20-month academic journey, to employers and supporters at Demo Day on Friday, April 29 from 10 – 11:30 a.m. Presentations will be followed by a one-hour interactive exhibition of student work at the Holberton campus, 15 N. Cheyenne Ave.
Students will present projects ranging from a GitHub app that provides automated bug analysis and metrics to improve code stability to a Virtual Reality experience to aid memorization to a classic 2D video game and a gardening application that helps manage community-use gardens.

“During the pandemic, some people chose to learn how to make bread—we chose to become software engineers. I am thrilled to present my final project as a student this Friday! Looking forward to working with you, Tulsa,” said Kellie Mogg, C13 an Augmented Reality & Virtual Reality student.

The graduating class consists of 21 students, majoring in augmented reality / virtual reality, full stack web development, machine learning and advanced algorithms / programming. Six students have already secured jobs in Tulsa. A private graduation ceremony will be held on April 30.

“Even though students joined our program in September 2020 during the pandemic, this cohort represents our largest graduating class to-date and are among our most resilient, creative and resourceful graduates, learning how to code, establish and manage projects and work effectively in teams in a remote environment,” said Libby Ediger, Executive Director at Holberton Tulsa. “Demand for highly skilled software developers in Oklahoma is at an all-time high, and our graduates are prepared to thrive in Tulsa’s fast-growing technology sector.”

Launched in the Spring of 2020, Holberton Tulsa is a software engineering school that prepares students for a career in software development through its 12 and 20-month programs, featuring frontend and backend web development, software engineering, augmented reality and virtual reality, Linux programming, advanced algorithms, blockchain and machine learning. Students do not need to have any experience in coding prior to enrollment, and flexible tuition and living assistance are available.

Holberton’s eighth cohort of 40+ students begins on May 2, and applications are open for the ninth cohort, which begins on August 29. With Friday’s graduation, more than 60 people will have graduated from Holberton Tulsa, working in both remote and Tulsa-based software engineering and technical roles.
